RESEARCH SOCIETY FOR THE STUDY OF DIABETES IN INDIA ( RSSDI ) is the largest organization of diabetes health care professionals and researchers in India. RSSDI provides non-formal education in diabetes to primary care clinicians practicing in rural areas. RSSDI Continuing Medical Education programs are organized at NIMS and many teaching hospitals throughout the country for last 25 years, and since 1994 all RSSDI CME activities are coordinated from NIMS, Hyderabad.
SCHOOL OF DIABETOLOGY was inaugurated on the World Diabetes Day, November 14, 1998 in NIMS campus. For this purpose, construction in 1800 sft of first floor space and in another 2000 sft ground floor space was completed as generous donations of Rs.2,100,000 were received.

For establishing the School of Diabetology in NIMS, total financial support solicited from donors is Rs.5,000,000. [ Rs.2,500,000 for construction; Rs.500,000 for audio-visual, computer and library facilities; and Rs.1,000,000 as fixed deposit in bank for utilizing the annual interest accrued for supporting two fellowship programs in diabetes ].
Further efforts to raise additional finances for making this prestigious national diabetes facility at NIMS, fully operational are currently under way.
